This concert will celebrate the release of Jeff Kunkel's new CD, Meu Coração Brasileiro, and will feature the same rhythm section that performed on the recording! Joining Jeff, Alex and Haroldo for this performance will be Leala Cyr, best known for her work as a member of Esperanza Spalding's band, and Kevin Bene, a recent master's degree graduate of the Manhattan School of Music.  This concert will also mark the inaugural concert of the "Director's Series", a series of recitals chosen by Robert Cart, Director of the Cali School of Music.

Brazilian jazz pianist Haroldo Mauro Jr.'s Bossa na pressão (Steaming Bossa) is the latest release by Delira Música of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Playing with Haroldo Mauro in all tracks are bassist Sergio Barrozo and drummer Duduka da Fonseca. Of the album's twelve tracks six are tunes written by Haroldo Mauro himself. There are also standards by Tom Jobim, Newton Mendonça, Carlos Lyra, Vinicius de Moraes and originals by pianist Alfredo Cardim and saxophonist Raul Mascarenhas. The release dates and places are as follows:
October 20, 2005, 8:30PM at the J Club - Praia do Flamengo 340, Rio de Janeiro.
October 26, 2005, 8:30PM at Espaço Cultural Maurice Valansi - Rua Martins Ferreira 48, Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro.

Haroldo Mauro has recorded several tracks in this album.

Whatmusic.com of London has released the CD "Obras II: O Pulo do Gato", by legendary Brazilian drummer Edison Machado, recorded in 1971 at Rio de Janeiro. Haroldo Mauro Jr. is the pianist in this album, composer of the tune it was named after and regular member of Edison's quartet at the time of the recording, together with tenor saxophonist Ion Muniz and bassist Ricardo Santos. Also appearing in some tracks is trombonist Edson Maciel. This CD is available for sale at the Whatmusic website, where you'll also find articles about Edison Machado and the recording session written by Haroldo, Ion and Ricardo.
